Environmental Impact

According to Turkistan Oil Refinery policy, maintaining a favorable environmental condition while conducting sustainable and competitive manufacturing is the company’s top objective. Since environmental safety is the most significant indicator and value of the company, the company continuously checks that the environmental discipline of production is being followed. Systematic work is also done to improve the environmental situation on the ground and prevent violations of the environmental laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan as a whole.

Being a part of Turkistan Oil Refinery and operating in accordance with management, technological, technical, and social standards that have been implemented and are continuously updated ensures the high performance and efficiency of the Company’s production activities. It also complies with and puts into practice the Emissions Management Policy for Turkistan Oil Refinery.

We are conscious of how our actions affect the environment and the atmosphere, as well as our local, national, and international responsibilities in the fight against climate change. In this regard, our main priorities are the formulation of a plan to cut and regulate emissions into the environment as well as the investigation of chances for the adoption of cutting-edge projects and technology. Regarding air emissions, we are devoted to observing local, state, federal, and international environmental rules.

Utilization and neutralization of waste:

The Republic of Kazakhstan’s Environmental Code mandates that trash owners either manage their garbage safely on their own or guarantee their management by transferring their waste to commercial companies that handle waste management activities. The Republic of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Ecology, Geology, and Natural Resources and Turkistan Oil Refinery re-signed their environmental protection cooperation memorandum on 08/06/2023 with revised quantities for 2022–2024. The goal is to lessen and eventually eradicate contaminated land and garbage disposal.

According to the conditions of the Memorandum, work is being done on the disposal and processing of historical waste using the biological reclamation of oil and oil product-contaminated soil and the use of an energy-storing additive based on composite materials humate-containing.

The Company continuously develops methods for managing environmental activities and allots the required funds for environmental protection, in particular, environmental costs, such as the payment of taxes for regulatory emissions, expenses for environmental protection measures, insurance, costs for environmental compensation measures, investments in impact prevention on the environment, etc. For the years 2022 to 2023, the dynamics of rising payments for emissions into the atmosphere were not seen.
